It takes time, it takes effort, and sometimes – it even costs money! So, what’s the point? Why should video marketing be a part of your overall content marketing strategy?
We are now in the second quarter of 2018, and if you read our Video Marketing Predictions For 2018, you may have seen that video has already accelerated far beyond where it was in 2017. 81% of businesses now use video as a marketing tool, up from 63% in 2017. Not to mention that 85% of people say they would like to see more videos from brands in 2018, showing that there is demand for it!
So, what is the point? Here are 5 reasons why video marketing should be a vital part of your marketing strategy…
1. You don’t want to get left behind.
As we said before, 81% of businesses use video in 2018, an increase from 63% in 2017. This is a huge jump, and it’s only likely to continue to increase year by year. Consumers are now demanding more video and are much more likely to engage with a video than a piece of text or an image. If you don’t invest in video marketing soon, where does that leave you?
Social platforms are also changing and adapting to suit video content and therefore, this video content is becoming much more successful. If you continue to post text and image content and no video content, it’s unlikely that you will make it to the top of the news feed and achieve a good level of organic reach. In fact, video content gets 135% greater organic reach than photo content.
2. People love to watch videos!
People don’t love to read sales pitches, however. Why not give your audience what they want and engage them with some cool video content? Youtube is now the second largest search engine after Google, and this comes as no surprise as video accounts for almost 80% of all online traffic in 2018. Why is this?
Good quality videos are often engaging, interesting, and easy to consume. In fact, 72% of people would rather watch a video about a product than reading about it. This also goes for solving a problem or seeking informative content. To motivate your audience to watch your video, you must make it engaging, interesting, and easy to understand. In order to do this, you must already have a customer persona in mind and understand the type of content they would react to and resonate with.
3. Video can make you money.
After all, that’s what it’s all about! It’s proven that video marketing can significantly increase conversion rates and drive sales. In fact, having a video on your website landing page can increase conversions by a huge 80%.
This is because video helps your audience engage with your brand, understand your product, and buy into it much more easily than if they were simply shown a picture and a description. A study carried out by Wyzowl found that 74% of people who watch an explainer or demonstrator video of a product end up buying it. It’s now an essential part of the decision-making process for consumers. Video could, therefore, determine whether you barely scrape your sales targets or fly high above them.
4. Videos are likely to be shared.
Statistically, consumers are far more likely to share a video with their friends than any other type of content. 76% of users say they would share a branded video with their friends if it was fun and entertaining, which not only increases your reach dramatically but will also result in new page likes, a wider audience, conversions, and more traffic to your website.
Users are also 10x more likely to engage with (like and comment) video content than blogs or images. Content with more likes and comments is also prioritised higher in the News Feed, making it more likely for your video to be seen organically.
5. New video formats are constantly emerging.
From Facebook Live to 360 degree video and VR, video marketing doesn’t just involve your basic ‘camera on a tripod’ approach anymore.
These innovative ways of creating video content allow brands to engage with their users on a completely different level than ever before, therefore expanding their reach and driving sales. It’s best to test and experiment with a few different video types – such as Instagram Stories and Facebook Live – and see which get the best reaction from your audience.
Video is no longer simply just another type of content to add to a brand’s marketing strategy, it is now the best and most effective format that marketers can use online. Give it a try, and let us know what you find!
